First and foremost, you must decide whether or not you really are ready to have a girlfriend or if you just think you should.
Quick Quiz (check all that apply-BE HONEST!):
____I have the time and energy to put into a relationship.
____I am comfortable enough in my sexual orientation to date someone of the same sex.
____I understand that relationships are about equality and mutual respect.
____I want a healthy, loving relationship.
____I know what my boundaries are.
If you answered yes to all of the above, you may be ready. If you answered no to any of them, you may want to take a step back and work on getting those answers to be yes.
If you think you are ready, decide one more thing: do you want to date or do you want a girlfriend?
Dating is a step that leads to getting a girlfriend but you can date without turning the dating into a partnership. So you need to decide if you want to go on a lot of dates with different people or if you would rather just date until you meet that special someone.
Either way, this may help you meet people:
Joining groups, clubs, organizations and using your friends is really the best way to meet people. Also, volunteering for an organization with a large number of GLBT volunteers is awesome because you are doing something good, which will make you feel good and you’re meeting people.
Talk to your friends and let them know that you would like to meet some of their friends. Host a gathering like a game night or coffee outing and tell your friends to invite their friends.
Good luck!
